Founded in 2016, the Capital Region Furniture Bank accepts donations of furniture from community members who are downsizing and offers these goods to individuals and families transitioning from homeless shelters to permanent housing. Through our network of human service agencies, we identify which families can benefit most from our donated goods.

More than 300 pieces of furniture are given away every day at the Furniture Bank Many families select up to 20 pieces of furniture on their visit. The average family receives up to $1,400 worth of goods from the Furniture Bank. See How It Works

Due to the overwhelming number of nutritional, health-related, and life-altering unstable events, children experiencing homelessness are four times more likely to show delayed development and twice as likely to have learning disabilities as non-homeless children.. Donating is secure and easier than ever. You cannot make an appointment directly with Furniture Bank. You must be referred by one of our agency partners. If you have a worker from a social service agency, please ask your worker if the organization is a Furniture Bank Partner. If it is, your worker will let you know if you are eligible to receive a Furniture Bank Referral.
